RELATIVES RESPONDERS
DATES: 15 Feb, 9 May, 12 Sep, 14 Nov - LOCATION: 168 Holburn Street
One day course (09:30-16:30) to train personnel to deal with telephone enquiries from concerned family and friends of personnel working offshore on hearing of a major incident. The morning session comprises a presentation on the theory of relatives response while the afternoon practical exercise gives participants an opportunity to experience handling telephone calls from role-players.
MEDIA RESPONDERS
DATES: 13 Jun, 17 Oct - LOCATION: 168 Holburn Street
One day course (09:30-16:30) to train personnel to deal with telephone enquiries from the media following reports of a major incident offshore. The morning session comprises a presentation on the theory of media response, including the preparation of press statements, while the afternoon practical exercise gives participants an opportunity to experience handling telephone calls from role-players.
EVACUATION RECEPTION
DATES: 17 Apr, 9 Oct - LOCATION: Airport Thistle Hotel
One day course (09:30-15:30) to train personnel to meet and provide welfare to personnel evacuated from offshore following a major incident. The morning session comprises a presentation on the theory of evacuation reception while the afternoon practical exercise gives participants an opportunity to experience dealing with a group of ‘evacuee’ role-players. NB: a minimum of 10 attendees is required for this course.
MEET THE FAMILY
DATES: 17 May, 11 Oct - LOCATION: 168 Holburn Street
One day course (09:30-16:30) aimed at staff who have been nominated to represent the Company at the first meeting with the family of an employee following their death or serious injury; typically, this will be HR staff or senior management. The course addresses the practicalities following a death and the emotional aspects of meeting the family, including understanding trauma, the grieving process, psychological preparation, dealing with stress and coping with a personal crisis.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE FOR CONTRACTING COMPANIES
DATES: 16 May, 3 Oct - LOCATION: 168 Holburn Street
Half day (09:30-12:30) desktop exercise using a scenario based on a major incident on a client’s offshore installation to 'walk' through an emergency response in 'slow time' progressing the exercise in several time intervals. The course addresses call-out and mobilisation, key roles and responsibilities, facilities, client interfaces, dealing with fatalities, casualties and next of kin, relatives response, casualty and evacuation reception.
FACE THE MEDIA
DATES: Negotiable - LOCATION: TV Studio near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire
One day course (09:00-17:00) for up to 4 people held in a fully-equipped television studio near Inverurie which involves a mixture of training and recorded one-to-one interviews (doorstep, manned/unmanned studio, radio) followed by feedback and discussion. A DVD is provided to all delegates of their own interviews.
